A Green Mythos

Environmental & Sustainability Initiatives

Different actions across guest areas and offices that help preserve resources and reduce water & energy consumption.

Water Saving Measures

  • Installation of flow limiters in baths and showers.
  • Showers in all rooms encourage lower water use compared with bathtubs.
  • Toilet cisterns with economy (dual-flush) buttons.
  • Regular monitoring and maintenance of water consumption.
  • Guests are encouraged to re-use towels via in-room signage.

We operate a three-stage on-site biological-mechanical purification plant: all hotel wastewater is treated and reused for garden irrigation. Biodegradable detergents and cleaning products are used; sludge is processed in line with EU regulations.

Paper & Printing Reduction

  • Significant reduction of brochures and overall paper use.
  • "Think before you print" policy for all office staff.
  • Digitization-first workflow with full scanning capability to keep soft copies whenever possible.

Energy Saving Initiatives

  • Energy pockets (key-card switches) in guest rooms.
  • Automatic activation/de-activation system for room electricity when guests are out.
  • Motion detectors in selected public areas.
  • Solar rooftop panels to reduce grid energy use.
  • Energy-saving lighting: 90% low-energy bulbs (about one-fifth consumption vs conventional bulbs).
  • Heat-recovery systems produce hot tap water from A/C chillers, covering hot-water needs during A/C season.
  • Solar panels heat the pool water; BMS optimizes the runtime of high-consumption machinery.

Waste Management & Recycling

  • Separation of waste streams (e.g., glass).
  • Battery collection containers (Reception).
  • Separation of kitchen waste; used cooking oil collected and recycled by a local organization.

Environmental Team & Community

  • Active recycling programs across the property.
  • Participation in local community environmental activities.
  • Staff education on energy-saving techniques (computers, copiers, printers).

"The first law of ecology is that everything is related to everything else."

— Barry Commoner, U.S. biologist and environmentalist
